Meet the founder
Hello, I'm Dan, the founder of Drone Discovery. My fascination with drones traces back to my childhood, where my Christmas wish for a remote-controlled toy was never quite fulfilled. Instead, I delved into video gaming, mastering the control pad and playing games on screen coming a close second to a high-tech remote controlled vehicle.
Fast forward 20 years, and my journey led me to a love for photography. Acquiring my first digital camera at 25, I immersed myself in the world of high-definition photography. The process of both capturing and editing images became a passion. Adjusting lighting, manipulating colour saturation, and enhancing contrast allowed me to create even more captivating shots.
In 2022, my interest in drones took a serious turn. While teaching at a secondary school, a commercial drone pilot visited my class to inspire the students. Little did they know, they were also inspiring the teacher! Eighteen months after that visit, and with numerous hours of drone flying under my belt, I made the bold decision to leave my career in education and pursue my dream of starting Drone Discovery.
Droning seamlessly combines my love for photography and videography with my childhood passion for remote-controlled vehicles. Years of video gaming have honed my control pad dexterity, making it a perfect fit for navigating drones.
